Power shower:
Cable requirements  and restrictions:

essentials

An 8.5 or 9.5kw shower requires 10mm2 twin and earth cable if the cable run to the consumer unit is more than 15 metres. 8.5kw showers can use 6mm2  cable on runs less than 15m.  The shower must be permanently connected to the electricity supply via a double pole isolating switch.  A suitably sized MCB - 40 to 45amps - should be fitted at the consumer unit.

Electric Cooker:
Cable requirements and restrictions:

essentials

An ordinary domestic oven and hob of 5-8kw will require 6mm2 twin and earth cable on runs of 15m or less. Longer cable runs and larger range-style ovens, double ovens etc may require 10mm2 cable. A suitably sized MCB  - 32 to 45amps - should be fitted at the consumer unit. A switched wall plate must be fitted within 2m of the appliance.

Garage Supply:
Cable requirements and
restrictions:

essentials

Buried armoured cable is the usual solution to taking a spur to garages and outbuildings.  Cable size is determined by loading and cable length. A 25 metre cable capable of supplying 30 amps must be at least 6mm2, buried 50 cm deep, with warning tape buried at least 15cm above it.
